Disintegrations Per Minute
Disintegrations per minute (DPM) are the number of radioactive disintegrations that actually occur during one minute. The DPM of a sample is usually determined by dividing the number of disintegrations recorded by the efficiency of the detector instrument under the same conditions, particularly the amount of quenching, present for the measured sample.
